Use Helix to record your patients' medical details and consultations.
- Health Summary
  Information entered by a practitioner during a consult is added to a patient's Health Summary.
- Consultations
  Record details of a clinical consultation in the Consult panel of the patient's record.
- Patient Timeline
  A summary of the patient's clinical history is displayed in the Patient Timeline.
- Medications
  Helix uses the MDref medications database provided by AusDI.
- Immunisations
  Before you administer an immunisation to a patient, check the immunisations that have already been administered on the AIR and the immunisations due.
- Allergies
  A patient's allergies can be added to their record.
- Chronic Disease Management
  Use the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) feature to specify care plans, cycle of care for asthma or diabetes, and GP Mental Health Treatment Plans.
- History & Examinations
  Record details of a patient's clinical history in the History section. Record details of today's examination of a patient in the Examination section.
- Measurements and Assessments
  Record metabolic, pathology and ECG measurements and other assessments in the patient's record as required.
- Recalls
  A Recall is a type of flag recorded against a patient's record that informs practitioners and practice staff of when the patient is due to return to the practice.
- Nursing Requests
  During a consult, add a request for a nurse to complete a nursing action.
  - Reprint Nursing Requests from the Timeline
    View nursing requests added during a consult in the Patient Timeline and reprint them if required.
- Obstetrics
  Record obstetrics information on the Obstetrics panel.
- Investigations
  Investigations can be requested by a practitioner from within a patient's clinical record.
- Tasks
  The tasks module allows users to send messages (tasks) to other users throughout the medical centre.
- My Health Record
  Securely upload a patient's health data to their My Health Record.

About this task

Procedure

To add a nursing request:

From the Patient Search or Patient Queue, select a patient and click Consult.
In the Consult panel, click Nursing
In the Nursing Request panel, a list of nursing requests is displayed on the left, grouped by Excision/Suture, Therapeutic or Diagnostic. Select the required item.
- When an item is selected, it is added to the Nursing Request list on the right-hand side.
- An item can also be added by typing free text into the Nursing Request row.
- To remove an item from the Nursing Request list, hover your mouse over the item, and click Delete icon.
In the Notes section, add any notes about the items selected.
Select the Call me when ready or Copy for me options at the bottom of the panel if required. These instructions, if selected, are printed on the nursing request.
Click Print to print the nursing request.

Results

The Nursing Request panel closes.

Any items that were requested from the nurse are displayed in the Actions section of the Consult panel, separated by a comma.

What to do next

To reprint or delete the items in the Actions section, click Reprint.

To remove a nursing request item from the Actions section, hover your mouse over the item and click Delete.

Tip:

A deleted item is not displayed in the patient’s Timeline.
