Data and PIP QI Reports

To include data from Helix in the PIP QI Report, it must be entered in the correct area in Helix. Inbox results received for pathology are also included.

Active Patients

Per the Australian government requirements and RACGP guidelines, only patients who are considered active are included in the PIP QI report. This means that the patient must have visited at least three times within the previous past two years from when the report is generated.
PIP QI Measure Helix Data Requirement
QIM 01: Proportion of patients with diabetes with a current HbA1c result
  • Proportion of regular clients who have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and who have had an HbA1c measurement result recorded within the previous 12 months.
  • Diabetes condition must be included in the Conditions section under Health Summary as an active condition.
  • HbA1c results are detected by scanning the measurements tab and any inbox pathology results matched to the patient.
QIM 02: Proportion of patients with a smoking status
  • Proportion of regular clients who are aged 15 years and over and whose smoking status has been recorded within the previous 12 months as one of the following:
    • Current smoker
    • Ex-smoker or
    • Never smoked
  • In their Health Summary, smoking status is recorded in the Smoker section. For more information, seeHealth Summary.
QIM 03: Proportion of patients with a weight classification
  • In their Health Summary, height and weight are recorded in the BMI section.
QIM 04: Proportion of patients aged 65 and over who were immunised against influenza
  • Proportion of regular clients aged 65 years and over who were immunised against influenza in the previous 15 months.
  • In their Health Summary, Influenza vaccination is recorded in the Immunisations section.
QIM 05: Proportion of patients with diabetes who were immunised against influenza
  • Proportion of regular clients with diabetes who were immunised against influenza in the previous 15 months.
  • In their Health Summary, Influenza vaccination is recorded in the Immunisations section and the Diabetes condition is recorded as an active condition in the Conditions section.
QIM 06: Proportion of patients with COPD who were immunised against influenza
  • Proportion of regular clients who are aged 15 years and over, are recorded as having Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and were immunised against influenza in the previous 15 months.
  • In their Health Summary, Influenza vaccination is recorded in the Immunisations section and the COPD condition is recorded as an active condition within the Conditions section.
QIM 07: Proportion of patients with an alcohol consumption status
  • Proportion of regular clients who are aged 15 years and over who have had their alcohol consumption status recorded.
  • In their Health Summary, Alcohol status are recorded in the Drinker section. Only the current status is considered
QIM 08: Proportion of patients with the necessary risk factors assessed to enable CVD assessment
  • Proportion of regular clients aged 45 to 74 years with information available to calculate their absolute CVD risk.
  • The patient is between the ages of 45 & 74 has a diabetes condition in the conditions section under Health Summary.
  • A systolic blood pressure results is recorded in the Measurements tab.
  • In their Health Summary, A smoking status is recorded in the Smoker section.
  • HDL results are found in the Measurements tab and any Pathology inbox items.
  • Total cholesterol results are found in the Measurements tab and any Pathology inbox items matched to the patient.
  • HbA1c results are detected in the Measurements tab and any inbox items matched to the patient.
  • A fasting glucose result is found in the Measurements tab and any Pathology inbox items matched to the patient.
QIM 09: Proportion of female patients with an up-to-date cervical screening
  • Proportion of female regular clients aged 25 to 74, who have not had a hysterectomy and who have had a cervical screening [human papillomavirus (HPV) test] after 1 December 2017 and within the previous 5 years.
  • The patient is aged 25 to 74, no hysterectomy condition is recorded as a condition under Health Summary.
  • A cervical screen is detected in the Pathology inbox items matched to the patient
QIM 10: Proportion of patients with diabetes with a blood pressure result
  • Proportion of regular clients who have diabetes and who have had a blood pressure measurement result recorded at the Primary, Aged Care and Community service within the previous 6 months.
  • Diabetes condition must be included in the Conditions section under Health Summary as an active condition.
  • Blood pressure results are detected by scanning the Measurements tab.
